Will CS:GO Still Be Playable Once Counter
Counter-Strike 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, set to be released in September 2023. With the upcoming launch of CS2, many players are wondering if they will still be able to play CS:GO.
Valve, the game’s developer, has stated that Counter-Strike 2 will completely replace CS:GO. However, it is unclear whether this transition will happen immediately or after a period of time. Valve has mentioned that CS2 will be a free upgrade to CS:GO, and the limited-test beta is accessible through the same game in your Steam library.
It is possible that CS2 and CS:GO will coexist as launch options for a limited time, similar to when Valve launched Dota 2. Eventually, CS:GO may be removed in favor of CS2. Therefore, there is no confirmation that CS:GO will remain playable once CS2 is released.
If you are a fan of CS:GO and want to continue playing it, it is advisable to enjoy matches before it potentially disappears forever.
On the bright side, all CS:GO skins, stickers, weapons, patches, cases, and capsules in your inventory will be transferred over to Counter-Strike 2. However, some items may look different due to the improved lighting and graphics in CS2.
For players who prefer older versions of Counter-Strike, such as 1.6 and Source, it is still possible to play them. Valve may encourage everyone to transition to CS2, but there is a chance that a classic version of CS:GO will be released in the future for nostalgic players.
In terms of modded versions of CS:GO, it is unclear whether they will be supported or frowned upon by Valve.
